Native American Myths have very specific properties that only pertain to them. One being that the number four apears in almost every aspect of the Myth aslo the number one, the one and only the main man. In the Appache creation Myth the number four and one apear right of the bat. "Suddenly from the darkness emerged a thin disc, one side yellow and the other side white, appearing suspended in midair. Within the disc sat a small bearded man, Creator, the One Who Lives Above."(pg1) This is an example of the one the main man the creator. He is the sacred one the almighty one. ""Where is the sky?" he asked, and sang, "I am thinking, thinking, thinking what I shall create next." He sang four times, which was the magic number."(pg1) This shows that the number in NA Myths that is most sacred is four. Here are a few more examples. " So Creator made four giant posts--black, blue, yellow, and white to support the earth."
"Four stones were heated by the fire inside the sweathouse."

The Chelan Creation Myth is like many Native American Myths. But this Myth falls under the catigory of Dues Faber Myths. Dues Faber Myths feature a maker god. Or in this story the great chief above. Dues Faber also contains a person or animal who creates the earth and man. In the story the animal tribe make the humans by killing and seporating a beaver into 12 peices."take Beaver from the water some day and make it into a human being. I will tell you now what to do. Divide Beaver into twelve parts. Take each part to a different place and breathe into it your own breath. Wake it up. It will be a human being with your breath". (pg1) This myth also falls under the catigory of Secretion Myths which state that devine emmisions such as sweat vomit and blood will birth the earth. The animal tribe kills a beaver and uses its body parts such as blood liver and othe body parts to make the humans."They took the liver to Clearwater River, and it became the Nez Perce Indians. They took the heart across the mountains, and it became the Methow Indians. Other parts became the Spokane people, the Lake people, the Flathead people. Each of the eleven pieces became a different tribe."

The Myth Sedna is a secretion myth because when her dad was rescueing her from the bird people and her husband he cut off her fingers in hopes that she would fall pray to the bird people after they found out that her husband there friend was dead. When sednas dad was cutting off her fingers nuckle by nuckle each part of her flesh and bone fell into the water and became a dolphin or wales or ring seals. "He took he sharp fishing knive and cut sednas fingers from her nails to her first joint and her bones turned into whale bones and flesh into wales which swam off feeling right at home in the crazy seas".

Yokut Creation Story
The Yokut Creation story is an Earth diver myth. This type of myth states that the world starts as a body of water and an animal dives down the the bottom of the ocean bringing up mud to create the earth. "A Great Flood had occurred upon Earth long, long ago. While Earth was still covered with water, there were no living creatures upon the land." This proves that at the start the would was an ocean. "Can Duck possibly bring up enough mud for us to build land?" they wondered." well Duck could of and he did. The Eagle and the crow caught fish in exchange for ducks mud from the bottom of the ocean which they used to make the land and as they got higher and higher in the sky the "flood" began it subside.
This also could be a 2 creators myth. The 2 creators myth states that there are two creators that come from a differnt world and make the earth. In this case it was the Eagle and the Bird the two together bribed the duck with fish for his mud the make the earth! The Eagle and the crow begin to compete alittle bit when us comes to eagles suspision that crows stack of mud is much greator than that of his so eagle catches 2 fish for crows one fish in exchange for two piles of mud from the duck. This is and example of creating the earth threw competition.

There once was a
young boy who lived in the tribe on uppanaka he was only 8 but he was greatly
cherished by the elder people around him for he was the chiefs son. His father
was the best hunter of the tribe and knew how to use the land to catch his
pray. His dad uses the sky and which way the clouds move to tell where the next
watering hole or the next place where the animals will be. The young boy looks
up to his father and wanted to know how the sky was created and how it helps
his father so much. "Come my child for I am growing older and soon this
will be your tribe, come learn the ways of the land". Without hesitation
the boy ran to the woods. As they were going out for a hunt a huge storm was
building and they had to return to their tribe before they could hunt. "
See father this is why I hate the sky!" " Now son you don’t know the
first thing about the sky or how it works. Come listen" so the father told
the young boy how important the sky is and how it came to be." The great
creator set his eye on this earth and made the land we live on. He first made
the land then the lakes then the sun but without the sky all of his creations
could not last. So he made the sky this beautiful blue sky that tells us where
to go!" " How father?" well son the when the great creator was
making the earth he had no way to water the grass provide wind for the waves in
the lake and no way to maintain the rivers and ponds with water. The way the
sky waters the earth and the ponds brings together animals for the water and
fertilizes the ground to make our crops!"

Race Discussion
From
the moment I watched James Cameron’s movie I was captivated by the premise that
he came up with. The fact that a paralyzed man was able to live out his fantasy
of being able to walk and run in the Avatar world on Pandora. The storyline
grabbed me and made me ask for more. Never once during the movie did I ever
think of racism.
It wasn’t until I read the article
written by Mr. Milloy that I thought about racism. It was at that point where I
realized that it wasn’t the racism that the world has come to know. From my
point of view it is a shame that an African American man can take a fictional
movie and turn it around and make it seem racist. A prime example of this is
when Mr. Milloy says “In addition to Native Americans, I saw some cat people as
black people in disguise. This racial effect is cleverly accomplished by using
certain speech patterns and body language.” I disagree with this statement about Mr. Milloy’s observation
of black people in disguise and I am disappointed that racism is still talked
about in the twenty first century.
From
my perspective I never thought about racism in this movie the fact that the
natives were blue had no correlation with African American people. I feel that
James Cameron is a very well accomplished director and feel that his intentions
were not even close to what Mr. Milloy is saying. I feel that Mr. Milloy is
trying to make Mr. Cameron out to be the bad guy. I think Mr. Cameron’s intentions
were to entertain the world with his impeccable graphics and creativity. It is
a shame that such a great movie has to be even questioned about being raciest.
